Undergraduate Program

The Department of Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (INST) with an emphasis in Bilingual Education. (Download the program brochure.)

This degree provides:

  • certification in Bilingual EC-6;
  • emphasis on addressing English Language Learner (ELL) needs in bilingual, dual language and English as a Second Language (ESL) classroom settings; and
  • field experiences in blingual, dual language and ESL classroom settings.

Application deadlines are April 1st for admission to the fall semester cohort and August 1st for summer transfer students desiring admission to the fall semester cohort.

How do I begin the admissions process for the undergraduate program?
Please visit the Application Procedure page or contact the Bilingual Education Program undergraduate advisor, Christy Porter at csporter@tamu.edu. She will send you the admissions application packet. Once you are admitted in the program, you will begin a four semester sequence of upper level courses. (See Course Sequence). Is there a student organization affiliated with the undergraduate Bilingual Education Program?
The student organization for pre-service bilingual education teachers is the Bilingual Education Student Organization (BESO), an affiliate of the Texas Association for Bilingual Education (TABE).
