| The doctoral program in Hispanic Bilingual Education prepares graduates for university and leadership positions in the field of Hispanic education, including consultation and evaluation, teacher training, and supervision or coordination of programs. A combination of coursework, practicum, program competencies, and the final dissertation ensure both the breadth and depth of training. The progra is led by trained and experienced staff in bilingual curriculum development, distance teaching formats, and instructional design. The program has two TTVN video conferencing classrooms connected to numerous video-based classrooms across the state. The program is the first one in the state to offer the Master’s degree via distance education through TTVN in Houston and other sites throughout Texas. The Bilingual Library is housed within the Hispanic Bilingual Program and offers a wide variety of current literature and curriculum programs from various school districts. This is for student use in research and program development. LDN is a virtual library of materials and research in bilingual education. It can be accessed at htpp://ldn.tamu.edu. In addition, the program makes available expert consultation, computer terminals with word processing capabilities, a server, a staff of video and multimedia developers, and two Web sites: http://ldn.tamu.edu and www.texastwoway.org. Practicum and internship experiences are provided on campus, in public schools, and other education agencies.
